In 1965, Universal began with one idea in mind – to provide unmatched services and solutions for our clientele. Originally started as a janitorial company serving Southern California, Universal later branched out into security and operated in both the janitorial and security industries until the janitorial division was sold in the late 80s. In 2008, the company launched two new divisions to operate under the Universal umbrella with our protection and fire/life safety companies: Universal Protection Security Systems and Universal Building Maintenance. The systems division runs as an integration and monitoring company, while Universal Building Maintenance is an all-green, environmentally friendly version of the original company. What began as a small, steady start many years ago has now become the largest regional security and janitorial company in the U.S., with more than 23,000 security and janitorial professionals guarding and cleaning billions of dollars in assets located across the nation.
Always looking ahead, Universal demands green processes from all of
our divisions and continues to update our technology to keep up with
the competition. Most recently, Universal introduced innovative security
devices, called ProGuard and UCheck, which report in real-time,
so our clients can receive the most current and accurate data available
regarding their property and security professionals. This break-through
technology will allow our property managers to instantly monitor their
security status effectively and hassle-free. By going wireless and
taking the guesswork out of security and employee patrol, Universal
gives their clients a simple and cost-effective alternative to managing
their security.
Universal
not only constantly keeps ahead of the security industry on the environmental
and technological levels, but also with our employees. We understand
it is our staff members who are the cornerstone to our continued success
and we view them as our most valuable assets. Because of this, Universal
recently received an award from the Orange County Business
Journal.
THE BEST PLACES TO WORK award, recognizes
leading workplaces in Orange
County and is given based on surveys from the company’s staff.
Universal also received the high honor of the 2008 Corporate Citizen
of the Year Award for the Century City Chamber
of Commerce. The award recognized Universal’s commitment to serving
as a “progressive, devoted, guardian of the community” and
our support of local charities, including the Children’s Cancer
Research Fund’s Annual Kids 4 Kids Run/Walk, the Starlight Children’s’ Foundation,
the Make a Wish Foundation, and the SIERRA CLUB.
Universal
operates under a completely different model than other companies—not
focused on cutting programs or services, nor stifled by corporate bureaucracy;
our sole mission is to provide clients with the best possible security
solutions, personalized service and unmatched value available in the
industry. These values are what landed us where we are today and will
stay with us as we head into the future
